Best Gifts for Blackstone and Griddle Owners

They have the griddle. What they almost certainly do not have is a proper turner, a melting dome or anything to keep the weather off it. Eight gifts a flat-top owner will use, ordered cheapest first, with the one number you have to check before you order the three that have to fit.

By Stephen V.Last updated Our methodology

If you are buying for someone who owns a flat-top griddle and you want one answer, buy the long stainless turner set. Griddle food is flipped, chopped and scraped rather than turned with tongs, the short flexible spatulas that ship with most griddles are not up to it, and virtually nobody replaces them on their own initiative. It costs about twenty dollars and they will touch it every time they cook. That is the whole recommendation; everything below is for people who want to do better than the safe answer.

This page exists because griddle gifts have a specific failure mode. Three of the eight things here — the cover, the wind guards and the hood — only fit a particular size and generation of griddle, and “Blackstone 36-inch” is not specific enough to order from. If you cannot find out exactly which griddle they own, the five items with nothing to check are the five to buy from. We have said precisely what to confirm under every single pick, so you do not have to guess.

What a griddle owner already has, and what they do not

A new griddle comes with the griddle, a grease cup and usually a pair of underwhelming spatulas. That is it. So the things a griddle owner is most likely to be missing are the cheap, obvious, slightly boring ones — proper turners, squeeze bottles, a melting dome — and the things they are most likely to already own are none of them, because a flat-top is often bought as a standalone impulse and the accessories get put off indefinitely.

What they almost certainly dohave is an opinion about rust. Bare carbon steel is the whole trick of a flat-top — it is why food releases and why the surface gets better with use — and it is also why a griddle left uncovered through a wet week comes back orange. If you have ever heard them mention re-seasoning, the restoration kit and the cover are the two gifts aimed directly at that complaint.

How we ordered this list

Cheapest first, and deliberately so. This is a recipient-based gift guide, not a ranking of quality, and for a gifter the useful ordering is “what will a griddle owner be most pleased to receive per dollar.” On that measure the twenty-dollar turner set beats the hundred-and-thirty-dollar hood for most people, because the turners get used every cook and the hood only matters to someone who has already decided they want to roast on a flat-top.

The two mid-priced picks — the wind guards and the cover — are the ones that solve a named problem. If the griddle owner in question has said something about wind, or about rain, buy the one that matches the complaint rather than the most expensive thing you can afford. A gift that fixes a specific irritation lands considerably better than a gift that is simply larger.

Prices, and what they mean

Every price on this page is fetched live and stamped with the date it was read. Griddle accessories are an unusually stable category for pricing — these are not products that swing by fifty percent — but the seasonal exception is worth knowing about: flat-top accessories are one of the categories that does discount in late November. Our Black Friday BBQ deals page covers what actually drops and what does not, if you are buying early and have the patience to wait.

How this is funded: we earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. It never changes which product we recommend, and we’ll tell you when we’d skip one, or point you to a cheaper option when it’s the better buy. Full disclosure.

#1Best gift overall

Blackstone Extra Long Griddle Spatula Set (5550, 2-piece)

The purchase that decides whether a flat-top is a pleasure or a chore, and the only one here nobody can skip. A griddle is cooked with two turners rather than tongs — one to slide under and one to steady, or both at once to fold a pile of onions — and a kitchen spatula is too short, too flexible and too narrow to do either. Blackstone's own pair is stainless with beveled edges for chopping and scraping, on handles long enough to keep your knuckles off a plate running north of 400°F. Buy these first and the rest of this page becomes optional.

For the gifter
Why it lands:
A griddle is cooked with turners, not tongs, and the two that come in the box with most griddles are too short and too flexible. This is a pair of long, stiff stainless turners — one for flipping, one for chopping and scraping the plate between batches. It is the thing they will pick up every single time they cook, and almost nobody buys it for themselves.
Who it suits:
Every griddle owner, with no exceptions and nothing to check. If you are buying one gift from this page, buy this one.
Check before you buy:
Nothing. It fits any griddle because it does not attach to anything. If they already have long turners, a second pair is genuinely useful — griddle cooking tends to need two hands.
What the numbers say
  • Two turners, which is how a flat-top is actually cooked — one spatula is not enough
  • Beveled edges chop and scrape as well as they turn, per Blackstone's own description
  • Long handles keep your hands clear of a surface that runs well past 400°F
Worth knowing
  • Blackstone publishes no blade dimensions, thickness or weight — you are buying on the photograph
  • The heat-resistant plastic handles are the part that fails first; this is not a lifetime tool
  • Sold only as a pair, so an existing long turner in the drawer becomes a spare

Best for: The first thing to buy with any griddle

Specs read from Blackstone published 2-Piece Spatula Set product page (SKU 5550 — two spatulas of durable stainless steel with heat-resistant handles, beveled edges for chopping and scraping, one-year manufacturer's warranty) + Amazon listing (B09R5D812R, Extra Long Griddle Spatula, Heavy-Duty Stainless Steel Set of 2), last checked September 29, 2026. #2Best for smash burgers

Lodge Seasoned Cast Iron Round Grill Press, 8 in (L8RFIP)

Three and a half pounds of American cast iron, and the only press worth owning, because weight is the entire specification. A smash burger is made by flattening the ball hard in the first thirty seconds while the crust forms — a light aluminum press bounces and a thin one warps. Lodge publishes the figures almost nobody else in this category does: 8 inches across, 3.5 lb, naturally seasoned, made in the USA. It doubles as a bacon weight that stops rashers curling, and it is the cheapest route to diner-style crust on a sandwich.

For the gifter
Why it lands:
Smash burgers are the single most popular reason people buy a flat-top, and they do not work without weight. Three and a half pounds of seasoned cast iron pressed onto a ball of beef is what creates the lacy brown crust; a thin spatula pushed down by hand does not. It also presses bacon flat and weights down a grilled sandwich.
Who it suits:
Anyone who has mentioned smash burgers, or who has a griddle and has not tried them yet. It is the gift most likely to change what they cook.
Check before you buy:
Nothing in terms of fitment — it is a free-standing disc. If they already own a press, check whether theirs is round or rectangular: most people end up wanting both, because the round one suits burgers and the rectangular one suits bacon.
What the numbers say
  • 3.5 lb of cast iron does the flattening, so you are not leaning on it
  • Lodge publishes real figures (8.0 in, 3.5 lb, made in the USA) where most of this category publishes none
  • Keeps bacon flat and toasts sandwiches, so it earns its drawer space outside burger night
Worth knowing
  • Bare cast iron: Lodge's own care line is hand wash, dry, oil — put it away damp and it rusts
  • Press a burger after the first thirty seconds and you are squeezing the juice out; this is a tool you can misuse
  • It is round, so on a packed griddle it occupies more plate than the burger it is pressing

Best for: Smash burgers and flat bacon

Specs read from Lodge published Round Seasoned Cast Iron Grill Press product page (item L8RFIP — 8.0 in, 3.5 lb, naturally seasoned, made in the USA, care: hand wash, dry, oil) + Amazon listing (B0971NPHXJ, Lodge Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Round Griddle Press, 8 Inches), last checked September 29, 2026. Prices change; the number in the card is fetched live.

#3Best cheap upgrade

Blackstone 12-inch Round Griddle Basting Cover

A stainless dome is what makes a smash burger on a flat-top taste like a diner smash burger. Drop it over the patty with a slice of cheese on top and a squirt of water on the steel beside it, and the trapped steam melts the cheese in about fifteen seconds without overcooking the meat underneath. It does the same for a heap of onions, a fillet of fish, or anything that needs heat from above on a cooker that only has heat from below. At this price it is close to a no-brainer for anyone who cooks burgers.

For the gifter
Why it lands:
A twelve-inch steel dome turns a flat, open surface into a tiny oven for ninety seconds, which is how cheese actually melts onto a burger and how onions go soft instead of just browning. It is the cheapest thing on this page that unlocks food they currently cannot make, and a flat-top owner without one is usually improvising with a mixing bowl.
Who it suits:
Any griddle owner, particularly one who makes burgers, cheesesteaks or anything with cheese on it.
Check before you buy:
Nothing — it just sits on the surface. Twelve inches covers two burgers or one sandwich comfortably; if they cook for a crowd every weekend, two domes is not an extravagant gift.
What the numbers say
  • Solves the flat-top's one structural limitation — without a dome there is no heat above the food
  • Melts cheese in seconds rather than the minute it takes to carry on cooking the patty
  • Doubles as a steamer for onions, peppers and fish when paired with a water bottle
Worth knowing
  • Blackstone's own store currently lists square and collapsible basting covers rather than this round one, so there is no maker spec sheet behind it beyond the diameter
  • A round dome on a rectangular plate wastes the corners; a square cover covers more of a crowded griddle
  • No published heat rating on the handle — treat it as hot metal and use a glove

Best for: Melting cheese and steaming on the plate

Specs read from Amazon listing (B06Y6H4ZL6 — Blackstone 12-inch Round Griddle Basting Cover, Stainless Steel). Blackstone's own catalog currently lists square and collapsible basting covers rather than this round one and publishes no dimensions for it beyond the 12-inch diameter in the product name, so nothing further is printed here., last checked September 29, 2026. Prices change; the number in the card is fetched live.

#4Best for a neglected griddle

Blackstone Griddle Top Restoration Kit (4172, 8 fl oz)

Rust is the flat-top's only real failure mode, and this is the kit that reverses it. An 8 fl oz bottle of restorer plus applicator pads: scrape the loose material off, work the liquid over the steel with a pad, wipe back to bare metal, then re-season immediately. It is not a cleaning product for after dinner — it takes the top back to zero, which is exactly what a griddle left uncovered through a wet month needs and exactly what a healthy seasoned top does not.

For the gifter
Why it lands:
A griddle top is bare carbon steel, and bare steel rusts the first time it gets rained on or put away damp. This is eight ounces of restorer and the pads to work it in, and it takes a top that has gone orange and patchy back to black. It is a strange thing to be given and an enormous relief to own.
Who it suits:
Someone whose griddle lives outside, or whose griddle you have seen looking rusty. Also the right gift for a lapsed griddle owner who stopped using it because the top went bad.
Check before you buy:
That their griddle top is steel, which it will be on any Blackstone or comparable flat-top. Do not buy this for someone with a brand-new griddle they are keeping pristine — buy them the dome instead. If the rust is already severe, pair it with the cover below so it does not come back.
What the numbers say
  • Fixes the one thing that actually kills griddles, for about the price of two bags of charcoal
  • The applicator pads are in the box, so there is nothing else to buy before you start
  • Far cheaper and less drastic than replacing a 36-inch griddle plate
Worth knowing
  • It takes the seasoning off with the rust — budget an evening to re-season straight afterwards or it rusts back worse
  • Not a routine cleaner; using it after every cook would mean re-seasoning after every cook
  • Blackstone publishes the SKU, the 8 fl oz volume and the pads, and nothing about the formulation

Best for: Bringing a rusted or gummed-up top back

Specs read from Blackstone published Griddle Top Restoration Kit product page (SKU 4172, one-year manufacturer's warranty, product imagery titled Griddle Top Restoration Kit with Applicator Pads) + Walmart and Ace Hardware listings for the same kit (8 fl oz) + Amazon listing (B0CR98NXYS, Griddle Top Restoration Kit for Rust and Residue Removal), last checked September 29, 2026. Prices change; the number in the card is fetched live.

#5Best for a windy patio

Blackstone 36-inch Griddle Wind Guards (5015)

The accessory that decides whether your griddle is usable in October. A flat-top is an open slab of steel with burners under it and no walls, so a steady breeze strips heat off the surface faster than the burners can put it back — the plate never reaches temperature and the cook blames the griddle. Blackstone's guards hook over the edges of the top with no tools and no drilling, and on a windy evening the difference is searing versus stewing.

For the gifter
Why it lands:
Wind is the flat-top's real enemy: it pulls heat off the front edge of the plate, so one end of the griddle runs properly and the other will not sear. These hook over the edges of the top and block the draught, which is a far cheaper fix than the hood and solves the specific complaint most griddle owners have on a breezy day.
Who it suits:
Anyone cooking on an exposed patio, deck or balcony, and anyone who has complained that one side of their griddle is cooler than the other.
Check before you buy:
The griddle size. These are cut for a 36-inch Blackstone with the grease management at the front and rear. Find out which model and size they have before ordering — a 28-inch owner needs the 28-inch version, not this one.
What the numbers say
  • Addresses the real reason a griddle will not get hot outdoors, which is convection loss rather than burner output
  • Hooks over the edge of the griddle top — no tools, no drilling, and comes off for storage
  • Extends the usable season on a patio that catches wind
Worth knowing
  • Sized for the 36-inch front-and-rear-grease models only — on the wrong griddle they will not seat
  • Blackstone publishes no material, gauge or piece count for them on its own product page
  • Costs more than the spatulas, the bottles and the dome combined, for something you only need on bad days

Best for: Cooking outdoors in wind or cold

Specs read from Blackstone published 36-inch Wind Screen product page (SKU 5015 — helps to deflect the effects of wind on the griddle; simply hook the wind guards over the edge of the griddle top; one-year manufacturer's warranty) + Amazon listing (B000CETI2K, BLACKSTONE 5015 Griddle Wind Guards for 36 Inch Griddle Front and Rear Grease Model), last checked September 29, 2026. Prices change; the number in the card is fetched live.

#6Most practical gift

Blackstone 36-inch Griddle Cover (5482)

The cheapest insurance policy in outdoor cooking. A seasoned griddle top is a thin film of polymerized oil over bare steel, and bare steel left in weather does what bare steel does. A weather-resistant cover with buckles that hold it down in wind is the whole answer, and Blackstone publishes the numbers for this one: 69 by 35.5 by 26 inches, sized for a 36-inch griddle with a hood or hard cover. Read that last clause before you order — Blackstone sells five different 36-inch covers and they are not interchangeable.

For the gifter
Why it lands:
The single biggest threat to a griddle is water sitting on bare steel, and the single best thing you can give a griddle owner is the thing that stops it. It is unglamorous and it is the gift that adds years to a cooker that cost them several hundred dollars. The published dimensions are 69 x 35.5 x 26 inches, which is unusually specific for this category and makes it easy to check.
Who it suits:
Anyone whose griddle lives outdoors uncovered — which, judging by how many rusty tops there are, is most people.
Check before you buy:
Size and configuration, carefully. This is cut for a 36-inch Blackstone fitted with a hood or hard cover. A 36-inch griddle without a hood, or a 28-inch, needs a different cover. If you cannot confirm the model, buy the spatulas instead and give the cover next year.
What the numbers say
  • Stops the rust that the restoration kit above exists to undo
  • Blackstone publishes real dimensions (69 x 35.5 x 26 in) and states the fitment, which most cover sellers do not
  • Reinforced stitching and side buckles, so it stays on the griddle in wind rather than in a neighbor's yard
Worth knowing
  • This is the with-hood size — a hoodless 36-inch station wants Blackstone's 5484 original cover instead, and this one will billow
  • Cover a warm griddle and you trap moisture against the steel, which is worse than leaving it open
  • Blackstone lists five different 36-inch covers; matching the SKU to your exact model is on you

Best for: Keeping a 36-inch hooded griddle out of the weather

Specs read from Blackstone published 36-inch Griddle Cover product page (SKU 5482 — fits 36-inch griddles with hood or hard cover, 69 in L x 35.5 in W x 26 in H, weather-resistant material, reinforced stitching and secure side buckles, one-year manufacturer's warranty) + Amazon listing (B097KVQWPV, Blackstone 5482 Griddle Cover, 36 inch, Black), last checked September 29, 2026. Prices change; the number in the card is fetched live.

#7Biggest upgrade

Blackstone Omnivore 36-inch Steel Griddle Hood (5856)

The one accessory here that changes what the appliance can do rather than how conveniently it does it. A lid over a flat-top holds heat above the food, so the griddle stops being a frying pan and starts being able to roast, hold a tray of food warm, or finish a thick chop without a dome over it. It also keeps leaves, pollen and rain off the steel between cooks. The catch is printed on Blackstone's own page and in the product name: it fits the V1 and Omnivore 36-inch griddles only. Verify your model before spending this much.

For the gifter
Why it lands:
A hood is the one accessory that changes what a griddle can do rather than how comfortable it is to use. With a lid down, a flat-top can hold heat, roast and keep food warm; without one it is permanently an open plate in the weather. It is also the gift that will visibly surprise someone — nobody expects to be given a lid.
Who it suits:
The committed flat-top cook who uses the griddle year-round and has started to want it to behave like an oven.
Check before you buy:
This is the gift with the strictest fitment on the page: it fits the 36-inch Omnivore and V1 griddles only. Blackstone has made several 36-inch generations and they are not interchangeable. Confirm the exact model from the listing or the label on their griddle before you order, and if you cannot, pick something else — this is not an easy return.
What the numbers say
  • Adds heat from above, so roasting, holding and finishing thick food all become possible
  • Keeps the plate clean between cooks and takes daily abuse a fabric cover cannot
  • Steel, front-handled and removable, so it comes off entirely for a full-surface breakfast
Worth knowing
  • Blackstone's own listing says V1/Omnivore only — on any other 36-inch griddle this is a return
  • Costs more than the spatulas, bottles, dome, press and rust kit on this page put together
  • Blackstone publishes no dimensions, gauge or thermometer detail for it — only the fitment and the warranty

Best for: Turning a 36-inch Omnivore into a covered cooker

Specs read from Blackstone published 36in Griddle Hood product page (SKU 5856, titled 36in Griddle Hood (V1/Omnivore ONLY) — helps keep your griddle top clean between uses, prevents scratching on the griddle surface, and keeps the elements from directly hitting your griddle top; front handle; one-year manufacturer's warranty) + Amazon listing (B0CY3L7F7Z, Blackstone 5856 Omnivore 36 inch Steel Griddle Hood, Black), last checked September 29, 2026. Prices change; the number in the card is fetched live.

#8Best stocking filler

Blackstone 32 oz Squeeze Bottle Set (5071, 2-pack)

The cheapest thing on this page and the one that changes how a griddle session runs. Two bottles, one oil and one water: oil to dress the plate between batches without walking back to the kitchen, water to hit the steel under a dome and steam a pile of onions or melt cheese in seconds. Cooks who have never used the water bottle assume it is a gimmick; it is the single technique that separates a flat-top from a very large frying pan. Any food-safe squeeze bottle does this job, which is exactly why you should not spend much on it.

For the gifter
Why it lands:
Flat-top cooking needs oil and water on the plate in controlled squirts, constantly — oil to cook, water to steam and to lift the fond when scraping down. Pouring from a bottle is messy and inaccurate. Two 32 oz bottles cost almost nothing and are on every griddle cook's counter within a week of being given them.
Who it suits:
Any griddle owner. It is the natural companion gift to the spatula set and makes a complete small present together.
Check before you buy:
Nothing. They fit any griddle because they are just bottles. One for oil, one for water — the twisting lids are what stop them leaking in storage.
What the numbers say
  • Turns the steam-and-melt technique into a one-handed move instead of a trip indoors
  • 32 oz each is enough oil and water for a long cook without refilling
  • The lowest-cost item here by some distance, and there is no premium version worth buying
Worth knowing
  • Blackstone publishes the SKU, the capacity and a one-year warranty and nothing else — no material, no bottle count on its own page
  • Plastic twist caps clog on anything thicker than oil; these are not sauce bottles
  • Generic restaurant squeeze bottles do the identical job, often for less

Best for: Oil in one hand, water in the other

Specs read from Blackstone published Squeeze Bottle Set product page (SKU 5071, 32 oz — a must-have for cooking oil, water, sauce and dressings; one-year manufacturer's warranty) + Amazon listing (B07JW8DRZF, 32 oz Plastic Squeeze Bottle Set with Twisting Lids, 2-Pack), last checked September 29, 2026. Prices change; the number in the card is fetched live.

If you only know “they have a Blackstone”

That is the most common position a gifter is in, and it is workable. Buy from this group, all of which fit any griddle regardless of size or generation:

  • The long turner set— the default gift, used every cook.
  • The cast-iron press— a free-standing disc, no fitment at all.
  • The 12-inch basting dome— sits on the surface, fits everything.
  • The squeeze bottles— they are bottles.
  • The restoration kit— works on any steel griddle top.

Any two of those make a generous, coherent present and nothing can go wrong. The cover, the wind guards and the hood need the exact model, and the hood needs the exact generation as well.

How to find out which griddle they have without asking

The size is usually printed on the front of the unit or on the grease tray surround, and it is the big number: 17, 22, 28 or 36 inches. A photograph of the griddle is enough for the size and often enough for the configuration — count the burner knobs. One knob is a 17, two is a 22 or 28, four is a 36. Whether it has a hood is obvious from the same photo, and that is the second thing the cover depends on.

Generation is the hard part, and it only matters for the hood. If you cannot establish it, that is the pick to skip. A hood that does not fit is a large, awkward, expensive return and it will arrive looking like it was meant to be a surprise.

Three things not to buy a griddle owner

A wire-bristle brush. You should not buy one of these for anyone with any kind of cooker. Loose wire bristles end up in food and the resulting injuries are documented and increasing — the research behind that is cited in the sources on our grilling tools roundup. A griddle is cleaned with a scraper, water and a cloth anyway, so a brush of any kind is the wrong tool for this cooker.

A big multi-piece tool set. Twenty-piece cases are mostly skewers, forks and corn holders. A griddle cook needs two turners and a scraper, and the set version of those is always flimsier than buying the two good ones.

Seasoning oil, usually. It is a reasonable product and an underwhelming gift: most griddle owners already season with cooking oil they have in the cupboard, and the ones who care about it have strong opinions and their own preference. The restoration kit is different, because it does a job cooking oil cannot.

Where to go next

If you want the owner’s version of this list — same products, ordered by what to buy first rather than by what to give — it is best griddle accessories. If the person you are buying for does not actually own a griddle yet and you are considering buying them one, start at best flat-top griddles and read griddle vs grill first; a griddle is a big, opinionated gift and it is worth being sure. And if they own a griddle and a smoker, the other recipient guides are gifts for smoker owners and gifts for pellet grill owners.

Frequently asked questions

What should I buy someone who has a Blackstone griddle?

A set of long stainless turners is the safest and most-used gift: griddle food is flipped and chopped rather than turned with tongs, the spatulas that come with most griddles are too short and too flexible, and almost nobody replaces them for themselves. It fits any griddle, costs around twenty dollars and gets picked up every cook. The twelve-inch basting dome and the cast-iron press are the next two, and neither has any fitment to check.

What size griddle cover do I need as a gift?

You need to know both the width and whether the griddle has a hood, because covers are cut for a specific combination. The 36-inch cover here publishes its dimensions as 69 x 35.5 x 26 inches and is sized for a 36-inch griddle fitted with a hood or hard cover — a hoodless 36 or a 28-inch needs a different one. Count the burner knobs in a photo to get the size: one is a 17, two is a 22 or 28, four is a 36.

Do griddle accessories fit all Blackstone models?

The loose ones do and the attached ones do not. Turners, squeeze bottles, a press, a basting dome and the restoration kit work on any griddle because none of them attach to it. Covers, wind guards and hoods are cut per size and, for hoods, per generation — Blackstone has made several 36-inch versions and they are not interchangeable. If you cannot confirm the exact model, buy from the loose group.

What is a melting dome for on a griddle?

It turns an open flat surface into a small oven for a minute or two. Put it over a burger with cheese on it and the cheese actually melts instead of merely getting warm; put it over onions or peppers with a splash of water underneath and they steam soft rather than just browning. It is the cheapest accessory that lets a griddle owner cook something they currently cannot, which is why a flat-top cook without one is usually improvising with a mixing bowl.

Is a griddle press worth buying?

For anyone who makes or wants to make smash burgers, yes — it is the tool the technique requires. The crust on a smash burger comes from pressing a ball of beef hard onto hot steel, and three and a half pounds of cast iron does that in a way a hand-held spatula cannot. It also flattens bacon and weights a grilled sandwich. If they have never mentioned smash burgers, it is still the gift most likely to change what they cook.

How do I stop a griddle rusting?

Keep water off bare steel and keep a layer of oil on it. In practice that means a cover when it is not in use, wiping a thin film of oil over the top after every cook, and never putting it away wet. If the top has already gone orange and patchy, a restoration kit takes it back to black — eight ounces of restorer and the pads to work it in. A cover prevents the problem; the kit fixes it after the fact, and the two together are a coherent gift.

What should I not buy a griddle owner?

A wire-bristle grill brush, a large multi-piece tool case, and seasoning oil. The wire brush is the serious one: bristles come loose and end up in food, and documented US injuries from them rose sharply between 2015 and 2023 — a griddle is cleaned with a scraper and water anyway. Multi-piece cases are mostly skewers and corn holders around two flimsy tools. Seasoning oil is a fine product and a flat gift, since most owners already use cooking oil from the cupboard.
